2009 Give a Kid a Coat Campaign
Nearly 23,000 coats were collected during the 2009 Give A Kid a Coat campaign, making the total number of coats collected, cleaned and distributed since the program's inception 23 years ago over 630,000.

All told, 22,858 coats were collected this year for needy families in the area.

"Year after year the folks in our community rally together to help those in need," said Chris Edwards, President of A Cleaner World. "We are so pleased to know that over 22,000 children and adults will be warm this winter because of that. Thank you to our partners FOX8, 1075KZL, and The Salvation Army for their continued support and dedication to this project. I'd also like to say a special thank you to our employees for all of their hard work. Every person that contributes, whether it is by donating a coat, cleaning a coat, or spreading the word, is important to the program's success."

While the collection process is over, The Salvation Army is continuing to distribute coats. Families in need of coats should contact their local Salvation Army office for distribution information.

A Cleaner World will clean and repair the coats free of charge. The Salvation Army will then distribute the coats to children and adults in the Piedmont who need them. Cash donations can be made at any High Point Bank branch. Last year, 26,177 coats and more than $7,500 in monetary contributions were collected.

"It is a wonderful blessing to see all the people who bring in their coats by the car load", said Captain Tony Perez from The Salvation Army of High Point. "What really touches my heart is when you see a child bringing in their own coat to another child that might need one more. That is what it is all about, helping others in a time of need."

On Friday, Oct. 23, FOX8 and 107.5 KZL will broadcast live from A Cleaner World at 2527 Eastchester Drive in High Point. FOX8 and 107.5 KZL personalities, as well as various local celebrities will be there to join in the festivities.
