Police said an arsonist took several items from Old Time Baptist Church on Saturday night, then spread a fire accelerant all over the inside in an attempt to burn it down.One church member said investigators found the church's oven turned on with a can of gas in it, but the oven didn't get hot enough to make the gas explode.
"That's the dirtiest thing you can do, burn a church down or try to burn a church down," said church member George Hruska. "It's not like robbing a store or something. This is God's property."
Crimestoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
