Police charged an elderly woman in the death of a chemistry professor at Elon University.
Mary Murphy, 82, is charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. Authorities said Murphy hit and killed Dr. Eugene Gooch as he rode his bike on the shoulder of University Dr. on Friday night.
