The Asheboro City Council on Thursday approved the sale of local wines at the city's farmers market, according to the owner of a local vineyard.
Leslie Zimmerman, of Zimmerman Vineyards, said the measure does not open up the market to wine tastings or the sale of beer. All wines sold must be locally produced.
In 2008, the City of Asheboro approved alcohol sales within the city limits, but extra approval was needed for the farmers market because it's owned by the city.
