Two Horse Riders Injured in Accident with Truck
A man and a young boy are in critical condition at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center after they were hit by a truck while riding horses in Davidson County Sunday night, according to the Davidson County State Highway Patrol.

Davidson County Trooper R.T. Simmons said Eric Turner, 27, and Sebastian Swanson, 9, both of 298 Sunny Lane in Thomasville, were riding horses on Cunningham Road in Davidson County at 6:05 p.m. Sunday when they were hit by a white truck. Swanson is the son of Turner's girlfriend.

Two other riders were not injured in the accident, but two of the four horses they were riding were killed.

The driver of the truck, Ellis Barry Hughes, 59, was uninjured in the accident.

Simmons said the riders weren't wearing any reflective gear and that they should not have been riding their horses in the dark.

Authorities have not filed any charges yet, but the investigation is ongoing.
