Approximately 140 workers at a mill in Eden that produces Karastan rugs and carpets are losing their jobs today, according to Mohawk, the company that owns the mill.
According to Unite's district director Anthony Coles, approximately 130 employees will remain at the mill, which manufactures high-end carpets for Dalton, Ga.-based Karastan.
Coles said the layoffs are a result of the sluggish economy and the poor housing market.
