MOUNT AIRY, N.C. -
A group of coworkers in Mount Airy are celebrating after their tradition of pooling money together to buy lottery tickets paid off.
At NCFI Polyurethane's in Mount Airy, which makes a variety of foams, a group of coworkers will take Friday off to claim $200,000 in winnings from playing the North Carolina lottery.
"He rode around with the ticket in his truck for three days, everybody wondering who won." said Henry Jones, one of the winners.
For more than six years, the coworkers each put in $5 to play the lottery each week. Danny Vaughn, one of the winners, would stop at Eddie's Zip Food in Mount Airy to purchase the tickets.
"I bought it Friday evening, hadn't even looked at it until yesterday evening." Vaughn said.
The winning has created a buzz around town since Saturday, when word spread the winning ticket was sold somewhere in Mount Airy.
After taxes and dividing the money equally, each will get about $10,000 dollars -- nothing to quit their job over.
"No, no, you know we could run into somebody we owe money to." Jones said.
Plans for the money range from paying bills to buying new carpet to whatever the wife might want. But they all can agree on one plan for the money.
"We've got tickets for tonight's drawing." Jones said.
The group says they don't let anyone join their lottery group unless someone stops playing, and they have a waiting list.
