MOUNT AIRY, N.C. - Surry County court officials said the ex-convict charged with gunning down four men outside an appliance store showed no emotion as the charges against him were read Tuesday.

After being captured in Henry County, Virginia, early Monday morning, Marcos Chavez Gonzalez was extradicted to Surry County later that afternoon.

He's charged with four counts of first-degree murder and on Tuesday, authorities added a charge of failing to register as a sex offender.

More candles and flowers were added Tuesday to a makeshift memorial in the parking lot of Woods TV, where four Hispanic men were shot multiple times Sunday afternoon.

Victor Martinez-Jimenez, Javier Martinez and his brother Juan Martinez, and Marco Agulira all died from close-range shots that police believe Gonzalez fired using an assault rifle.

Mount Airy Police said the investigation into the town's worst mass-murder ever is ongoing. No motive for the killings has been released.

Late Tuesday, police said they still had not found the gun they believe Gonzalez used.

Gonzalez is being held in the Surry County jail without bond and is scheduled to go to court Dec. 17 for the murder charges.
