BURLINGTON, N.C. -
Like a scene out of one of those Lexus commercials in December, an elementary school teacher's assistant arrived at school Monday morning and was greeted by a white car with a giant red bow across the hood.
"To Ms. Warren" was written across the windshield of the 2007 Kia Spectra, but for first-grade teacher's assistant Pam Warren, the bigger question is: who's it from?
"I got out of the truck and started walking up the sidewalk," Warren said, reliving the experience. "I saw the red bow, 'To Mrs. Warren,' and I saw Mr. May and Ms. Bryan on the sidewalk with their mouths dropped open."
Warren, who has worked at E.M. Holt Elementary for 10 years, couldn't believe it either.
"I keep looking out the door to make sure it's still there, making sure it's real. I am shocked, really am shocked," she said.
Inside the car was a red box that contained a note from the generous mystery-giver:
"Every once in awhile, you hear of someone who gives so much and expects so little. We wanted to say thank you for the years of service. Enclosed, you will find the title to your car," the note read.
The box also contained two sets of keys and money to cover six months of insurance, taxes and registration.
As for who the giver might be, Warren said she has an idea but isn't willing to say who.
"You don't feel you deserve something like that," she said, breaking into tears. "I don't know. I've been crying all day. This is the fourth time."
