Three Bhutanese refugees were hospitalized after their Asheboro St. home burned early Tuesday morning, according to Assistant Fire Marshall Don Hinshaw.

The fire started at a rental home at 1200 Asheboro St. where three siblings -- two brothers and a sister -- from Bhutan were staying. The three had been resettled in High Point by World Relief, a disaster relief and refugee resettlement agency.

The brothers, Bhuwan and Suman Ranapahelee. were initially taken to High Point Regional Hospital and later transferred to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. They are in critical condition and are being treated for smoke inhalation and burns.

Their sister, Hema Ranapahelee, remains at High Point Regional, where she is being treated for smoke inhalation.

According to an e-mail from Mark Kadel, the affiliate director of World Relief in High Point, Hema arrived in the United States last year and her brothers came in August of this year.

Firefighters have not yet identified the cause of the fire.
