Kernersville Woman Arrested in California, Charged with Embezzlement
A Kernersville woman was arrested in California and charged with embezzling at least $100,000 from a gardening company.

According to the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office, Christine Black of 7810 Charles Place in Kernersville was working at Sharon K. Hopper Fine Gardening in Stokesdale. While employed at the business, she allegedly forced signatures on deposits and attempted to keep money for herself.

According to the sheriff's office, Black attempted to defraud the company of at least $100,000.

Detective Dana Taylor with the sheriff's office obtained warrants for 9 counts of embezzlement, 18 counts of forgery and 18 counts of uttering a forged instrument. During the investigation, officers determined Black was likely in California.

The United States Marshal's Office located and arrested Black. She is currently being detained in Orange County California with a bond of $900,000. Rockingham County District Attorney Philip Berger Jr. gave extradition approval for Black.
