The cleanup at Oak Ridge Elementary will take longer than expected and students will not be allowed back inside until at least December.

At last night's school board meeting, officials were told the mold cleanup is taking longer than originally thought. Members of the school board originally planned on having students in the school by October.

Engineers are checking the schools ventilation and are having to fix dry wall, the roof and crawl spaces at the school.

School board members won't receive another update until the end of November.

School Board Chairman Alan Duncan expressed concerns at Thursday's meeting that the project could easily go over budget.

The school was closed earlier this year after mold was discovered inside the school. Crews worked throughout the summer to clean the school and have it ready for the upcoming school year.
