8 Children Sent to Hospital After School Bus Accident
JONESVILLE, N.C. - Several students were transported to the hospital after a bus hit another vehicle in Jonesville early Monday morning.

The accident happened at 7:26 a.m. near the intersection of Center Road and Fall Creek Church Road in Jonesville. According to Trooper Moxley, the school bus made a left turn in front of a passenger car causing the accident.

Eight students on the school bus and the driver of the other vehicle were transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries, according to Moxley. One student, Kimberly McCartney of S. Jonesville Blvd., was transported to Baptist Hosptial for treatment of her injuries.

There were 36 students on board the bus headed to Starmount Middle School.

The bus driver, Vanessa Swaim of Center Road, is charged with an unsafe movement violation. She was uninjured in the accident.
