Sex Offender Allegedly Had Facebook, Myspace Accounts

MADISON, N.C. (WGHP)—
A registered sex offender is accused of being in violation of a state statute that bans offenders from having social networking accounts, according to the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office.

Justin Linwood Townsend, 22, of 1370 Bald Hill Loop Road, Madison, is accused of having accounts on MySpace and Facebook.

Deputies said he was aware of the statute and had signed an offender acknowledgment of the statute in September.

Deputies said Townsend used the names TOWNSHED07 and TAWSOME07.
