RANDLEMAN, N.C. - A company in Randolph County is offering the first Styrofoam recycling center in North Carlina.

Dart Container in Randleman, a global food container giant has pioneered new ways to recycle foam. They designed an $18,000 densifier, and now their inviting the public to drop off their food containers and packing foam at the facility.

"The other locations that we're opening up, there are people coming out every day dropping off foam, whether it's egg cartons or businesses that drop packaging foam." said Michael Westerfield, Director of Recycling at Dart Containers.

Once through the densifier the foam is recycled into picture frames that's proven popular on the west coast.

"In Corona we are getting 20,000 pounds of foam, that's the equivalent of 20 truckloads." Westerfield said.

To tell if your foam products are recyclable, look to see if the number six is printed on it. You can drop off your foam at the Dart Containers facility on Weslyan Road in Randleman.
