DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. -
A High Point woman was charged Tuesday with embezzling more than $200,000 from a Thomasville company where she worked as bookkeeper.
Melissa Anne Rivas-Domina, 41, faces two felony charges of embezzling more than $100,000 after a 10-month investigation by the Davidson County Sheriff's Office.
On Jan. 19, John Belton, the owner of C&W Cores at 1597 Kennedy Rd. in Thomasville, reported discrepancies in his company's financial records.
After an investigation, detectives determined Rivas-Domina, who was the company's bookkeeper during the timeframe that the discrepancies were found, had embezzled $102,226.58 between Feb. 8 and August 4, 2008 and $105,447,70 between August 5 and Oct. 1, 2008.
Rivas-Domina was arrested Tuesday afternoon and jailed under a $1,000 bond.
She was scheduled to appear in Davidson County District Court on Wednesday.
