Some Piedmont residents saw some snowflakes Saturday, but most of the winter weather stayed to the west of the Triad.

According to the FOX8 Weather Center, Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain received three inches of snow, while Boone and Jefferson received two inches.

Most of the precipitation has moved out of the region. The storm system continues to dump snow along the Appalachians into New England.

Temperatures will fall below freezing overnight, so drivers should watch out for black ice, mainly over bridges and overpasses. Main surface roads should remain ice-free due to warm ground temperatures.
