A Minnesota teen has spent the past five months running from Los Angeles to New York to raise money for truck drivers who don't have health insurance. She ran through Kernersville on Monday.

Jasmine Jordan, 16, is running across country while her father drives close by behind her. Jordan is raising money and awareness for the Saint Christopher's Trucker Fun, which supplies medical insurance to truck drivers who don't have it.

Jordan decided to run after a family friend died of a disease at a time when she didn't have medical insurance.

Jordon took a month off after she pulled a tendon, but she's been back on the road.

"My dad said if you want to make a statement, run across country, but he was only joking at the time. I guess he ate those words." Jordan said.

Jordan has run through nine pairs of shoes and she's working on pairs number 10 and 11. She and her dad hope to reach New York City by the end of the month.

"I couldn't buy this kind of time with a child. To see my daughter go through this, to get this education, you can't buy this kind of education in a classroom." Jordan's father, Lee Jordan, said.
