The commission that oversees Smith Reynolds Airport has asked Pace Airlines to vacate its space at the airport by Sept. 30.In a letter to Pace executives, the Forsyth County Airport Commission cites unpaid September rent and and other overdue rent payments as the reason for the request.
Pace Airlines is the airport's largest tenant.
The troubled charter airline company paid more than $25,000 in taxes Friday after the Forsyth County Department of Revenue took out a tax warrant on the company.
Last week, investigators from the Department of Insurance arrested Pace owner and CEO Bill Rodgers Sr. on charges he knowingly stopped paying his employee's medical insurance premiums without giving them proper notice. The North Carolina Department of Labor says they have more than 430 wage complaints against Pace Airlines.
