'Bearcat Bandit' Hits Winston-Salem Bank

A Bank of America branch on Hanes Mall Blvd. was robbed Thursday afternoon by a man who closely resembles a suspect in recent bank robberies in Greensboro and High Point.

Surveillance pictures of the robber show a white male with a full beard wearing a baseball cap and a jacket with a Cincinnati Bearcats logo on the left breast. A man matching that description robbed a First Citizens Bank branch in Greensboro and a BB&T in High Point late last month.

According to police, the man entered the Bank of America at 698 Hanes Mall Blvd. shortly before 1p.m. and handed a teller a note demanding money.

He then left the bank and was seen running in the parking lot of the Pavilions Shopping Center.

Police said the suspect was 5'7" to 5'9" and about 200 pounds. They said he had a red bandana and was wearing a medium-light green shirt or jacked under a black or dark-colored jacket.

Police departments in all three cities are sharing information about the robberies and suspects.
