Racing star Dale Earnhardt Jr. donated $1 million to help build a horse corral and amphitheater at the Victory Junction Gang Camp in Randleman.

The amphitheater will seat around 1,500 people. Earnhardt Jr. flew into the camp on helicopter Saturday to announce the donation.

"I haven't been out here in a while. It sure has changed a lot. It just keeps getting more grander." Earnhardt Jr. said.

The camp was created by Kyle and Pattie Petty after their son Adam, who was also a race car driver, died. Kyle Petty says this new amphitheater is something the camp needed.

"It will enable us to move some of the talent shows and stuff that we do at camp to an outdoor arena. It also allow us to have concerts and outdoor theater." Petty said.

Construction on the amphitheater won't begin until this summer and will likely be completed by next spring. The Petty's say the camp not only keeps memories of their son alive, but also helps the children who attend the camp.

"Adam thought the world of you. He wanted to be like you and I think if he was here he would be so humbled and so grateful for what you've done, so thank you so much." Pattie Petty said to Earnhardt Jr.

The Petty's are building another camp in Kansas City, Mo. They've received $15 million in pledges for the camp so far.
