ELKIN, N.C. -
A former captain of the Elkin Rescue Squad was arrested and charged with statutory sex offense with a 14 year old and solicitation of a child by computer to commit a sex act.
William Frederick Cosby Jr., 45, had been investigated since Nov. 13 when the incident was reported to the Elkin Police Department.
James Anderson, Chief of Elkin Rescue Squad, Inc., said in a statement that Cosby Jr. resigned on Wednesday, Nov. 18, and the group has had no further communication with Cosby regarding his charges.
Cosby Jr. is being held at the Surry County Sheriff's Office on $100,000 bond. He will appear in court on Jan. 12, 2010.
