Forsyth County Holds Flu Clinic Tuesday
The Forsyth County Department of Public Health is holding a H1N1 and season flu clinic on Tuesday for risk groups and children.

The H1N1 flu shots will be administered to pregnant women of any age, children and young adults from 6 months through 24 years of age. In addition the vaccine will be available to household contacts, caregivers of children younger than 6 months of age, practicing health care workers and persons 25 through 64 years of age who have a chronic health problem. This includes asthma, diabetes, anemia, other blood disorders, heart, lung, kidney, or liver disease.

Children under the age of 10 who receive their first dose of the vaccine will need an additional H1N1 booster dose 4 weeks later.

The seasonal flu vaccine will also be available to children ages 6 months through 18 years old only.

The clinic will be held today at the Forsyth County Health Department, 799 N. Highland Ave., in Winston-Salem. The clinic will start at 1:00 p.m. and run until 8:00 p.m. The vaccines are being offered on a first-come, first-serve basis, so people are encouraged to arrive early. The clinic will remain open as long as the vaccine is available.

There is no cost for the vaccine, however if vaccine recipients that have private insurance or Medicaid, they are asked to bring their insurance cards. Health care providers are being asked to bring evidence of their employment and/or evidence of their licensing as a health care worker.
