An American is diagnosed with lung cancer every two-and-a-half minutes, and hundreds in Greensboro participated in a 5k to help raise money to help fight the disease.

The 5k kicked off at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14 at Grandover Parkway. This year's 5k marks the second time the triad has hosted this event, sponsored by Free to Breathe.

Lynne Moody attended the 5k and is also a lung cancer survivor. She said she was touched by how many people showed their support.

"It's just great that all of these people have come out to help and care for all the people in the community. It's just its overwhelming to know that so many people care and volunteer their time for such a great cause." Moody said.

Last year's Free to Breath 5k raised $75,000 for lung cancer research.
