Kisco Senior Living plans to turn the old Jefferson Pilot building into an assisted living facility.
GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) – Plans are in motion to turn the property known as the old Jefferson Pilot building on High Point Rd. into a senior adult living community.
Kisco Senior Living is asking for a $1 million grant from the city to build a sewer line that will reach the property. The city council is expected to vote on the grant request Tuesday evening.
"They asked if there was something that the city could do to help insure that the project would move forward," said Mitch Brown, Kisco executive vice president. "Our single issue was help us to solve the long standing sewer capacity issue out there and we can build a nice project that the city can be proud of."
Brown said he's been eyeing the property for years and is now finally in the process of putting the deal together.
"It's a beautiful piece of land, rolling topography, mature vegetation, on-site lake and the proximity to the Sedgefield Country Club," said Mitch Brown, Kisco Senior Living executive vice president.
Kisco is a privately owned company with 20 properties in six states, including three in the Piedmont.
Brown said building the new community on the J-P property will create 125 new jobs. The company said it could repay the city through approximately $300,000 in property taxes.
