Two Arrested, Charged in Church Robbery

A Winston-Salem church was robbed on Wednesday while serving a meal in the cafeteria.

Police said two suspects entered Salem Baptist Church armed with a handgun around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The suspect robbed the church of a money box and fled the scene on foot.

Late Thursday, police arrested Joseph Lee Boles and Benjamin Ephram Barrett in connection with the robbery. They were each charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Boles was placed in the Forsyth County Detention Center under $150,0090 bond. Barrett was placed under $75,000 bond.

A large portion of the money stolen during the robbery was recovered during the investigation.

No one was injured during the robbery.
