The city of Winston-Salem has received Dell's repayment of upfront costs and yearly incentive payments received for its manufacturing facility, the Mayor Allen Joines said Tuesday in a press release.
The $26.5 million repayment was transferred into a city account late Monday.
City finance officials will now begin the process of returning the money to the Millennium Fund and Forsyth County Development, Joines said.
"I'm looking forward to working with the City Council on developing a plan of how to put this money to work in helping to attract a new tenant to the building and to attract new business development citywide," Joines said.
Dell agreed to repay the money early in return for a .25% discount of the total, saving the company over $66,000.
