WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - R. J. Reynolds is tearing down ten of its old warehouses, but little is being thrown away.

When the work is finished, Reynolds will recycle 225 tons of metal, 1.5 miles of railroad track, 24,000 tons of concrete and 900,000 board feet of old growth timber.

D. H. Griffin and Turning House Furniture are helping with the project.

Turning House is using the wood, some of which dates back to the 1800s, into fashionable weathered pieces of furniture.

Both companies said thousands of new trees will be saved because of the project.
