A tour bus believed to belong to singer Miley Cyrus has crashed and rolled on its side on Interstate 85 south of Richmond, Va., injuring several people and killing one.

The accident happened near a rest area at mile marker 56 in Dinwiddie County, Va., around 8:20 a.m.

Virginia State Police said the bus was traveling southbound when it went off the left-hand side of the roadway, traveling about 100 yards before it ended up on its right side. Ten people were on the bus at the time.

Police identified the deceased as the bus driver, William G. Douglas, 53, of Austin, Texas. They said he died at the scene.

Marty Zilio, 48, of Canada, was injured in the crash. Zilio is a member of Cyrus' production crew and was transported by ambulance to Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, Va., for treatment of minor injuries.

Those on board the bus are members of the singer's production lighting crew, and many of them were asleep at the time of the crash. They exited the wreckage through the front windshield.

Police said the highway was wet from heavy rain Thursday night but are not blaming the weather for the crash.

Cyrus' next concert is scheduled for Sunday evening at the Greensboro Coliseum. The bus is owned by the Roberts Brothers Coach Co., and was hired for the tour.

The interstate was closed for several hours, but all lanes had opened up by 2 p.m.
