Two workers for World Relief remained unaccounted for Friday, three days after the earthquake destroyed the agency's Port-au-Prince headquarters.

North Carolina Affiliate Director Mark Kadel said World Relief employs 40 in the office, which was destroyed when the second story collapsed onto the first story and the roof fell in entirely during Tuesday's earthquake.

World Relief Vice President Stephan Bauman, who is in Haiti, estimates nearly half the buildings in Port-au-Prince have collapsed.

"In the next few days, food and water are going to be critical, and as people are without food and water, we can't predict what the impact will be," he said Friday.

Back in the disaster relief agency's High Point office, Kadel uses Twitter to get updates from Bauman and others in Haiti. He said his office is prepared to bring Haitians to North Carolina if necessary.

"The best advice is to give money to aid agencies like ourselves," advises Bauman. "Prayer is always welcome. Lots of mothers have lost their children and when you see that, that's the most heart-wrenching part."

Donations to World Relief can be made at the agency's Web site, or you can drop your donation off at the High Point office at 2029 North Centennial Street.
